Myths about Sound of Music

CDs) can be found at Amazon.com. Some Links: |

Story | Although the story plays in Salzburg/Austria,
it is rather unknown by the Austrian people. The movie Sound of Music
(in German Meine Lieder, meine Träume) is not much known in
Austria, but other movies with
Austrian actors, like Joseph Meinrad, ... about the family Trapp. |
||
Songs | It may seem that the songs sung in the film are true Austrian folksongs, but they are really unknown in Austria. They were just composed for the movie. No Austrian would sing about Edelweiß with this text or eat "...Schnitzel with noodels..". When you are looking for true Austrian folksongs, then visit the pages of Ingeborg.
Ländler | When you comb through Volkstanz.at
or Dancilla.com,
you will find more than 200 different Landler or Ländler, none of which fits to the so
called "Ländler" in the movie. The "Ländler" in the film just has
elements of folkdances, ballet and ballroom-dancing mixed together in a nice
way. Also
the music to the "dance" is not identifiable and also represents just a
mixture of everything. These are the reasons why you won't find any instructions for the "Sound of Music Ländler". For Edelweiss is also a dance available. |
