(The Clapped Two Step)

Form

unlimited number of pairs in circle facing each other

Hold

A: Closed dance hold or ballroom hold if preferred

B: No hold

Dance

A Bar 1 – 8: Two Step Polka, one turn to each bar, at the same time moving forward in ball room direction along circle.

On the 8th bar partners drop their hands to get into starting position for part “B”.

B Bar 1: On 1st beat both partners clap hands on their own upper thighs (she only allusively) and once on 3rd beat with their own hands in breast height.

Bar 2: Clapping hands three times with partner, pause on 4th beat

Bar 3: Partners turn round once (rotating on their axis, boy ccw, girl cw) with two steps until they face each other again

Bar 4: Boy: three stamps in position (left-right-left), girl: three steps in position (r-l-r)

Bar 5 – 8: Repetition of 1 – 4

Both parts are repeated until the music stops playing with melody A.

Note

For beginners it is recommended to do only one turn with 4 steps concentrating on achieving the correct position at the end of melody A needed for the next set.

The musician should try to play not too fast for beginners, but can gain speed as the dancers progress.
